Ghostly Relatives

I have kept the names out of the story to keep the family anonymous, since we still have relatives there.

I grew up in a little lake side town in Wisconsin called Algoma. I had a cousin who drowned in an accident in a river a little over a block from where they lived. I was younger at the time, probably about 11 or 12 years old. I don't know a lot of the exact details of his death. The reason that I even mention this is to give a little insight to the rest of the story.

After my cousin passed away, my parents decided that we should move into the apartment that was once occupied by my Aunt and Uncle. It was a four bedroom house so it was big enough for our growing family.

There are four bedrooms and one bath in this upstairs apartment. Our parents bedroom and the room they called the nursery was at one end, and the other two bedrooms, were at the other end. The kitchen, bathroom, and living room separated the bedrooms.

My oldest brother and I shared a bedroom, even though there were two at that end of the house. My youngest brother slept down by my parents. The unused room used to belong to my deceased cousin, and so it was used for storage only.

I remember getting up in the middle of the night to use the bathroom, and of course would always close the door. I would hear footsteps going back and fourth outside the door. It sounded like someone going from my parents bedroom and back to our bedroom. When I would get done, I would walk back and check on my brother, who would always still be sleeping. Then go down and check on my parents, who would still be sleeping. This continued for years.

When mom decided that I was old enough to have my own room. I was moved into my cousins old room, that was also being used for storage. My mom had painted the room a sunny yellow color, to help me adjust.

I had a set of bunk beds that I slept on. After the first couple of nights, it started. The first thing was the door. My parents had installed a hook lock on the outside of the door to keep us kids out. The door itself never shut completely tight. I was sitting watching TV, on the bottom bunk, and all of a sudden the door sucked shut. Thinking it was my little brother playing tricks, I got up to open the door, except it wouldn't open! I started to panic, and was really pulling on it. All of a sudden, it opened right up. I walked out into the living room, to see it dark. Everyone was in bed. I walked next door to my brother's room, to find him in a very deep sleep. It kept happening from that point on. I never mentioned it to my mother, to keep from upsetting her.

One night, I was watching TV very late at night. I started to doze off as I often did. All of a sudden, I felt arms come across me, as I laid there on my back, and hold me down. It was like someone had their fingers laced together over my stomach. At the same time, the door sucked shut again. I panicked. It only lasted a minute or two, but as soon as it let up, I was out of there!

She did mention to us in later years, after we moved out, that when we first moved into the apartment, she had put my brother in that room, but was having a problem getting him to sleep in there. He kept talking about the little boy who was playing cars with him. She would constantly sit in the living room at night, hearing him talking and would tell him to "go to bed". One night, after about the fiftieth time of yelling at him, she said she went to the door. As she opened it, she saw my brother's hot wheel cars floating in a circle. She watched for about 30 seconds, and looked over to see my brother sound asleep. She looked back to the cars in time to see them fall.

She also mentioned that she used to hear the footsteps going up and down the hall at all hours of the night. She said that she used to say "go to bed " and say my cousin's name, and the walking would stop.

I was 14 when we moved out, and nothing ever seemed to happen when we had other people over. But, it seems that when we moved on, so did our ghost!

Ghostly Confused

My name is Rachael I moved into my boyfriend's house about five months ago, and at first there wasn't too much to be concerned about. The past couple of weeks there have been things going on that neither of us can explain.

This is a vey old style house, in the two bedrooms upstairs. It has those short closet storage doors (looks like a little kid door) and about a month ago it kept opening by itself. We have cats and thought oh well they just pawed at it but noticed that it was not easy to open, but we blamed it on the cats to put our minds at ease.

This past week my boyfriend was working days he has his little closet upstairs where he keeps his shirts that is in the middle of both bedrooms and the bedroom across from the creepy one is where I keep my clothes, moving on. He went upstairs to get a shirt he always peaks in there from habit to see if its open and it wasn't, I woke up went upstairs to change and found it to be open I went to go shut it and found a pair of pajama pants laying inside by the door.

I realized about a half hour later that both the cats where outside so even if they could open the door it couldn't have been them, I told my boyfriend and he is just as creeped out as I am, because it happened from the time that he left until when I woke up. This has been going on a couple times now we also hear people walking upstairs now, I really would like some answers.

Ghost Of Mrs. Maples

My parents were looking for a new house to move to in Sturgeon Bay, WI. They found this house that my mom just fell in love with. The story of the house goes, that there was an elderly woman who lived alone in the house with her cats. She used to call the police to come and check on her, but when they got there she wouldn't answer the door.

My parents placed an offer on the house, but lost the house too two doctors. My mom would still drive by the house, almost every day, since it was a block away from where my grandparents were living.

One day she noticed a realtor sign in the front yard again. So she made an appointment with a realtor to view it again. After pulling up in front of the house, the occupant came running out yelling and screaming at my mother! After she realized that my mom was there to meet the realtor, and take a walk through the house, she calmed down and apologized for her outburst.

She told my mom that something in the house had been driving her dogs nuts, that they were constantly growling and snarling at something. This combined with other things, had forced the former couple to move.

When my parents moved in, they realized the doctors had started to remodel the kitchen. She believe that was the reason for Mrs. Maples being so mean to the previous owners.

My parents got the house, and started moving in. Before they could even get the beds in, my mom couldn't wait to stay there. She was sleeping on a couch downstairs, in the living room, when she started hearing music coming from the landing. After walking around to find the source of the music, she tracked it down to a box packed with precious moment figurines. At the bottom of the box was a musical figurine that was turned on. And no one had opened that box, since my mom was the only one in the house.

Mrs. Maples was also fond of playing tricks on my family living in the house. My grandmother used to come over and clean house to help my mom out. She would walk over every day for a couple of hours. Every now and then, my grandma would come over, the stereo would come on. "Walking After Midnight" by Patsy Cline would start playing on the stereo in the small room, my mom had some things stored in. First thought was that her grandsons were playing tricks on her, but upon checking on them they were both sound asleep yet. My grandma said she told Mrs. Maples that she didn't mind her playing music as long as she played good stuff. They got along well! She would also sit and rock in the old rocking chair, while grandma cleaned!

My dad wasn't as happy with her. He used to be afraid of her scaring him while he was moving around the house. If he went upstairs he asked her to go downstairs, and vice versa.

She did have a little bit of a mean streak. There were always people going in and out of their house. It was always unlocked, in case someone came over to visit. One day, some of my brother's friends stopped over to see him. When they knocked, they said an older woman called out to them to "Come in". Assuming it was my grandmother, they went in, and walked all through the house to find no one was home!

I think the worse prank she ever played was, one night when my grandmother called the house. She said and older woman answered the phone and told her my mother wasn't there. She asked who she was talking to, since she didn't recognize the voice. The woman replied "Mrs. Maples" my grandmother hung up and started yelling at my grandfather. He calmly told her to call back and yell at them for teasing her. So she hit redial, and when my father answered, she laid into him. He calmly asked what she was yelling about. She proceeded to fill him in, and told him how much she didn't appreciate the joke they had played on her. He told her that the phone hadn't rang all night. She was more then welcome to come over and check the caller I.D.

Ghost in the Mirror

One day my child came home from school and he told me he found a ghost game that you play with a mirror. But I didn't believe in ghosts that time. So that night, when he had his friend sleep over, they both went into the bathroom to play the game. While they played, I heard some creaking sound around the house. Our house was very old so I'm use to those kinds of sounds. Later that night, they said that they saw a ghost in the mirror. Of course, I didn't believe them, but they wanted me to play. So I was forced to play the game with them.

We all went into the bathroom and turned off the lights. A minute later, I looked in the mirror. So shocked to see someone or something was coming after us! I reached for the light but it was too dark to see where the switch was. When I finally found the switch, the lights automatically turned on! The boys where frozen with fear and the mirror was shattered to pieces! I have never felt so scared in my entire life! My child will never play that game again! And the scariest part is our house is old.

Coincidence? I think not!

Foot Steps

I was about 12 and I was all alone in my house. My sister went to a friend's house, my parents were out and my grandparents were at a wedding in Green Bay. I was in my room on the internet searching around for good ghost stories to tell my friends.

I was in my bedroom which was at the end of the upstairs hallway next to the bathroom. If you walk out of my bedroom there is one right across from it which is a guest room and is always kept shut because one of our 3 cats likes to get in there and stay for days. Next to those two rooms at the end of the hallway is a bathroom which I don't use because I always find spiders in there. On the left side of my room is another room which is my sister's and left of the guest room is the office (I know this is boring but you need to know the house to understand the story).

After all of the rooms, there are the stairs which leads right to my grandparents bed room to the left, a bathroom to the right, and one of the two basements to the right just before the bathroom. Next to my grandparents bedroom is the living room and the kitchen is right next to that with the dining room through it. On the left of the dining room is the other basement which is where my parents room is, the laundry room, and 2 storage rooms. There are 2 doors in the dining room and one in the living room (which constantly stays locked).

Back to the story. Now I was in my room on the internet when I heard the doorbell ring. I went downstairs to the dining room and see who it is but no one is there. I locked the door again, checked the other 2 just to be sure and went back up to my room and started back with the internet. About 10 minutes later, I heard footsteps in the hallway right next to my room so I got up and looked to see if anyone was there. No one of course. So I went back to my room, thinking it's one of my cats. After about another 10 minutes, it starts again. Now I definitely knew these footsteps were like human footsteps, not cats. Once again I looked out my door and saw nothing. I looked to check the guest room and the door is open, feeling stupid, I checked to see if the cat had gotten in when I went in there earlier to get my sisters sleeping bag and thought I had probably left the door open. Nothing was in there though, so I closed the door and checked the bathroom. Nothing. I checked every room. Even the basements and nothing or nobody was there. All of my cats were in the basement near my room sleeping on the couch and that was all I saw.

I went back to my room and as I was going in my room, I noticed the guest room was open even though I had closed it. This kept happening to me all night while I was alone. I never saw anything or anyone. Something was there though, I could feel it in the air.

Every now and then, when I go to visit my grandparents (we moved from that house 2 years later but my grandparents stayed), I can hear footsteps and the guest room is always open.

Fingerprints on the Shower Mirror

Even though I grew up in an old house, I haven't had any ghostly experiences of my own until a few months ago. I have lived alone at my Madison apartment for almost a year, and this is where my first ghostly experience occurred.

One day in March, I was taking a shower before I had to go to one of my lab classes. While I was in the shower I heard a squeaking sound, like somebody wiping off the mirror. Since it was very early and I was half asleep, I thought nothing of it until I got out of the shower and noticed fingerprints on the mirror. It was just like somebody had just come in to wipe their fingers on the mirror. The bathroom door was shut tight the entire time, and I would have heard the bathroom door open if somebody happened to come in. Both of the doors to my apartment were locked and had the chains on. I have a cat, but cats don't have fingers, and they can't open doors.

I asked my neighbors if the guy I subleased the apartment had mentioned anything weird going on in the apartment, and they told me that he hadn't. They also assured me that he hadn't done anything evil in the apartment. When I got to school I told a couple of my classmates about it, and they didn't give me any answers either. I don't think they believed me.

Extremely Cold Touch

My story isn't really a spooky house ghost story or a haunting thing. I'm not even sure if it's a ghosts, but its there and I can't see it.

The first time I experienced it, I was in my room trying to sleep. When I suddenly felt something extremely cold touch straight through my skin, it got harder and harder to breath. Then all of a sudden it was gone like nothing was there I couldn't sleep that night.

After that I was always waiting for it to come back. A month later it did.

I was in the living room this time when I knew it was in front of me. I can't explain it. I just knew it was there. I tried as hard as I could but couldn't see it. I had a friend sitting next to me who I knew could sense ghosts, even see them. And they didn't flinch or say anything. Thus my doubts that it's a ghost. It touched me again and wrapped its cold hand around what I thought was my heart, I could clearly feel its cold fingers. It was only around for a few minuets but I couldn't see it. I didn't tell my friend, if it wasn't a ghost there a voice in my head telling me I'm just hallucinating.

It wasn't a week before the last time it came. I had a night terror, a bad one. I had been sitting on the floor in the kitchen still shaking form the dream when a hand touched my head. It was so real I thought it was my mom. I looked up to see no one there. I swear I felt arms go around me, like it was trying to comfort me. A while after I calmed down it disappeared like it always dose. That was 2 weeks ago and I'm still waiting for it to come back.

I would like to know if any one knows what it is.

Entity Doing as I Say

At one point in my life I have said "I don't believe in ghosts..." Well I will never say that again based on my experiences. If you care, here is how my stories started! One day my friend and I were on the internet and saw this random ghost proof video. Now that I look back on it the video was totally fake, but that was what got us into ghosts. So we went to the park to get our minds off the "shocking" evidence we had just found of ghosts. We went to the baseball field, she walked up the stairs to the room where the announcers sit (or something like that) and said she saw a child in a floral shirt wearing glasses but that was really all she could see of her.

I went to the park every weekend in summer with my best friend, gradually we almost stopped going to the park because fall was coming, and the cool Wisconsin wind blew hard almost every day. One day we randomly decided to go to the park. That is when I decided, "hey, no one is here. I have been watching these ghost hunting videos, let's find a ghost. It will be fun!". It wasn't exactly fun but I know I will never forget it.

We asked for a sign of their presence, suddenly the wind drastically picked up speed. At that point I didn't think anything actually happened. But then we moved on to asking other signs such as I asked "them" to come with me, across the park. I guess it did because I whispered to them "to hold my friend's hands in a ball and not let go until I asked, even so I couldn't open them". I came back by her and she was yelling at me "what did you do I can't open my hands they are in fists. Help!" I tried to open them and I couldn't, then I remembered and wispered "Ok that's enough!" her hands opened. We then returned to my house.

The next morning I woke up, ate breakfast, and walked to the door way in my room. It was empty, as usual, I didn't share a room. For some reason I had just stopped at my doorway and examined my room I started looking to the left, I saw my blinds moving as if someone was running their finger down them. I gasped then it stopped, it was not my imagination.

During the middle of winter, she invited me over to clean (how fun I know but everything we did together was fun). We just had finished when I was running down the hallway, I knew she wasn't there but her little dog was chasing me so I went directly to her room. Something was moving that caught my eye the water in her glass was swirling. Once again I gasped and it slowed down.

Nothing really happened for a while, until the next spring. I went to her house to play DDR. We then started playing game cube, her dad offered to hook it up upstairs since we were downstairs, then he left us home alone. We were in the living room playing a racing game (I was losing as usual) and she told me she felt a tug on her hair. Later I felt it. We asked for a sign of "their" presence. Then I turned around because I heard something and I saw a floating black mist type figure. I was totally freaked out. But like 10 minutes later, we went on with the game as if nothing happened. She got scared but I was not, I was excited.

I have had so many little things happen, I tried to put them in the correct times but I am not sure how correct it is. Do you think I experienced a ghost?

Eerie Feelings

I've always believed in ghost but my now husband does not and didn't at the time this happened.

We were in Shorewood, WI at my boyfriend's (at the time) place on Oakland Ave in his apt. I had always felt weird being there, never felt comfortable being alone. One night after we'd gone to bed, I woke up to a man watching us sleep. He was at the foot of the bed all in black with a black hat on. I woke up shivering and woke up my boyfriend (husband now) but he saw nothing, I felt the room get cold at the same time. I didn't sleep the rest of the night after that I was scared being in any room without him by my side. Needless to say, he moved not long after that.

I've also experienced strange behaviours in my sister's old house. One of her children's bedrooms was really dark and very cold all the time. The children didn't want to sleep in that room either. It was always dark and creepy, we had the room blessed and seemed to be fine after that but to this day it has a weird feeling.

I've always believed in ghost and believe I can sense when something is not right but I want to learn to communicate with them if at all possible. I so curious about this and watch the Ghost Hunters all the time but I always wonder if they're real.

East And West Sides Hauntings And Things

Read the article and leave a comment.

I suppose I have to add more to my original haunting that dates farther back in history before us kids experienced anything out on the farm. Most of the hauntings that we experienced happened in our young lives, but again there were times 'they' still hung around even as we got older. So I'll share with you incidents before I was born and well after!

My parents built their house out in the boondox of Wisconsin in 1973. The land that they were building on is connected to my grandparent's farm. While my dad was growing up the current location of the house was pasture land for the cattle. My mother recalls all the rock picking they did to clear the area for the house as they built it from bottom up. Back then there was little grass and a lot of sand, rocks and snakes! The basement was finished as a whole house before the main floor and the accidental attic which became mine and my brother's bedrooms were built. As they lived in the basement with my older two brothers, the essence of the place affected its own aura. These are claims from my mother.

There are sections I will divide the house into so it makes some sense. The front part of the house is facing north and the back is south. Now there are the east and west sides that are divided with activity. The basement floor that eventually became my older two brothers bedrooms are on each side. One is on the east which on the top floor is my bedroom as well. The other is on the west that has also John's bedroom on top floor. So the stories don't get confusing.

Mom and Dad had their original bedroom in the basement on the west side. Next to that is the back room we call it today that holds the water hose and pump. For some reason that tiny space never had a door, it's just a spider web fiasco. In the center of the basement they had the kitchen and back then the east bedroom was the living room. Well mother said she had been busy battling snakes her entire time while living in the basement. Ew, they were everywhere. My dad killed one in the sandy driveway but it struck a foot high snapping at him before losing its head and dying at sundown. Don't ask me why I'm adding the snakes in this story it just sounds creepy to have them hanging around in your house all the time. Ever since I was born in the 80's there hadn't been one single snake. Dad must have killed them all.

Mom claims one day that something was jumping up and down on their bed in the west bedroom one time. She saw the indications of the imprints of the bed bouncing but nothing was there! Another time she filled up the swimming pool with water for the ducks and went into the house for a quick snack. When she came out the water in the pool was gone and it wasn't wet anywhere near it! The water somehow just disappeared. There also was a jogger who ran up to the house all the time only to find out that no one was ever there running up to the house. Those are the recent stories I remember her telling us after we told her as kids what we were seeing there.

Well sometime in the late 70's I assume that the upstairs of the house was done. I always remember having an upstairs ever since I had been hatched. So I might have been born with this occurrence. Mom was sleeping upstairs in their new bedroom on the west side when flashes of light awoke her from her sleep. It looked like ambulance light or something but she checked everywhere and the light came from nowhere. Then it all just died as fast as it came. Another time the phone in the house just kept giving short rings while the house shook as if graters were working on it, although nothing was outside to make the house shake and the phone to ring short rings. Whoever heard of earth quakes in Wisconsin?

I can remember horror stories from my older brother that a boogey man lived in the basement and would come out at night. Of course my bedroom was the west basement room at that time so I'd be laying there watching the door knob to move thinking he would walk through the door. There were plenty of nights as a small child I can remember not being able to sleep always looking out in the dark that something was out there. I was too young to recall supernatural things but something was definitely around, I was well aware of that. As young as I was playing in the sandy driveway with my brothers, always at dusk it seemed to get real eerie.

Then of course there were all the occasions when my cousin came over and we were introduced into the great unknown. As we grew up, Amy stopped talking to us completely. I think it has something to do with the place. The door bell liked to play on its own accord.

Then there was the time in high school that got our dad's girlfriend involved in an investigation as well. It was Christmas Eve and we were all farting around after opening our presents. She was getting out the champagne or something, dad went to do the dishes, John and I probably examining our new gifts. She came in the living room on the west side and noticed a light in the lawn that was very eerie. It showed up down in the lawn from nowhere. The three of us tried figuring out where it came from. We tried all the lights in the house to make that reflection and nothing made it. Then all at once it turned its self off! Dad was too busy with his kitchen duties to care about our wonder, and no one else was at the house, all of us on the main floor. To this day that light on Christmas Eve remains a mystery. Never would we ever have thought that his girlfriend of all people would be noticing odd things as well as us kids. My father is a non believer in anything that isn't practical.

The only thing closely to this incident is the time when we were kids and mom dropped off our two older brothers at dads on Christmas and got stuck in the road not far from the house. As she walked to the house to get our father, I noticed a light above a tree that I thought at that time resembled a candy cane. My brother saw it too. It didn't stay long, about 10-15 seconds and disappeared, and all was dark again. I don't know what it has been about Christmas and lights because for one my dad doesn't even put up Christmas lights. He hates trees, and all that good stuff, so we were deprived as kids. Nowadays I still don't put up my tree! Lights are nice though. But when they are unwanted lights, make sense of that one.

Older now and out of school I was still living at home. I had my first car now as well. One night out in the driveway the horn started blaring all by itself. I went out there finally and pounded on it to shut it up. There was no reason why it decided to sing by itself. Maybe the doorbell told it too, it's not like it was a jolly time of year. It was winter for crimney sakes!

Well let me get back to the east and west of things. The reason I divided the house onto two separate sections is it seems as though most of the incidents were on the west side. The driveway is on the east side, but when it comes to inside of the house, the west end is always way more productive then the east side. I like to throw coincidences into things as well. As for my brother that has a bedroom on the same side of the house as me, we both have the same sort of lives in some ways. And my two brothers that have rooms on the west side well there lives are more alike too. I have no idea if sides of houses can determine that but in our haunted house it appears to be as so! My two brothers that lived on the west side both have attitudes. John is so terrible these days, but he isn't being much different then our brother was at that age either. I don't know but it's worth a thought.

I can't think of any other stories at this moment that would relate to this house or the place we like to call it. Because it's not just in the house, it's the whole property. Now days the worst that ever happens is the house is way too quiet. I love quietness but sometimes that place is too quiet! When you start hearing the noises then you know that it's home.

Home Sweet Home.

Doors and Windows Opening on their Own

First off, I would like to say this really did happen it wasn't an illusion and I'm not making it up so for those of you that will comment to say it was a illusion or something, don't waste your time commenting my story. When I was around 7, my family lived in a big old farm house we called the kesler house (Kesler was the last name of the owner). I had a really big room with a door leading to a balcony. I remember the sound of someone laughing and it sounded like giants were running on the roof over my room. Whenever my parents and I left they would lock the balcony door (a dead bolt lock and a latch) but whenever we returned home the door would be wide open. My mom would sleep with me sometimes because I would tell her my room is too loud. She too would hear the same noises and had similar experiences with the house. Sometimes, all the windows would open while we were gone, or doors would be wide open when we had shut them.

We lived in that house for a year and then moved out to live closer to family.

Could It Be?

May 24th of this year, 2010, marks the 9 year anniversary of my cousins' death. His name was Luke. He was on his way to his own high school graduation when he over corrected behind the wheel, went into the other lane, and got hit head on by another driver. The road that he was killed on, Highway 87, located in St Croix Falls, WI is a very "popular' road when it comes to fatal car accidents. He was just a few miles away from the school when it happened, and he died immediately at the scene. I wasn't able to make it to his wake or funeral since I don't take that kind of thing well, so I visited his grave for the first time a few days after he was buried in 2001.

A week ago, I was on my way home from work around 11pm, and I had to pass the site where he died in order to get to my house, since there is no other road that would take me there. As I was driving down the road and coming up to where his accident took place I noticed that as soon as I was taking the corner, the headlights of my car shone almost directly on his cross/flowers, with his name on them, then I saw someone with their back facing towards me and the road just standing there facing his cross. I knew it was a male but I couldn't see his face. All that I did notice was that he was wearing a red flannel shirt and blue jeans. I didn't know what to think of all of this since it was so late at night, no other cars were in sight, and I couldn't think of anybody that would be out there at that time of night.

I was a little spooked so I raced home, about 5 more miles from where this sighting took place, and tried to clear my head. I got the courage to tell my sister about what I had seen a few days later. I told her everything that I saw that night. She didn't believe me until I mentioned that the person that I saw was wearing a red flannel shirt. Since my sister did attend his wake and funeral, she told me that was what Luke was wearing on the day that he died and that was what he was buried in. I couldn't have possibly known that since the last time I seen him alive was about two weeks before he died.

Was it Luke that I saw?

Why was he facing towards his cross?

If it was him, why did it take 9 years later for me to see him?

I drive by his site to get home every day and nothing has ever happened before.

Why now?

Childhood Hauntings In Wisconsin

I remember things happening when I was about three years old... That's about as far back as I can remember. I had three nicknames already, Monkey-Boy, Spooky, and Baby-Bones. I was called, "Monkey-Boy," because no crib could hold me. I'd somehow find a way to climb out, no matter how high the bars were. "Spooky", because of my love for watching "Shock Theatre" on my father's lap on Friday nights. And "Baby-Bones", well... My father's nickname was Bones.

My mother or father would check in on me in the middle of the night. Apparently, Monkey-Boy would find his way out of the crib for one reason or another. Sometimes they would be awakened by noises and footsteps in the hallway, but Monkey-Boy would be asleep. Sometimes they would find him sleeping under the crib to hide from the monsters. Probably from watching too much "Shock Theatre."

That was in Cudahy WI, in an old house on Pulaski Ave. Once converted into a store, then back to a house again. My parents rented the house for almost 2 years, and then bought a smaller house in St. Francis, just a few miles away, and soon after my brother was born (poor kid didn't even have a nickname). Sometimes I still slept under the bed. Sometimes my brother hid with me. Whatever was restlessly bumping in the night in the old house apparently followed us to the new one. The noises were louder, and objects began to move... In particular the basement door. One day while our Grandmother was watching us, the door burst open, ripping the screws from the chain-lock out of the doorframe. The door was chain-locked to prevent my younger brother from falling down the stairs.

We lived there for almost 5 years. During that time, the noises continued. The footsteps still echoed in the hallway, and although I never saw it, I knew there was something in the basement. Sometimes I would freeze at the top of the stairs and look down. My toy-box and games were down there, but I couldn't get myself to walk down the steps. There were times I would be playing in the basement, and an overwhelming fear would cover me. I felt like screaming, but I remember feeling as if whatever it was would surely get me if I made the slightest move or sound. It would soon go away and I'd be able to run back up the stairs.

I was in fifth grade when we moved again... Still in St. Francis. We bought my uncle's house when his family moved. It was a nice house, right across from Greene Park. I must have been nine or ten by then, my brother was 7, and my sister was 4. She was seeing monsters.

I've been there countless times. My cousin and I were almost inseparable, listening to KISS albums, eating pizza and drinking root beer by the 12-pack during sleepovers. The basement was a recreation room, carpeted, panelled, full bar, TV and extra bedroom. Soon after we moved in, again I would find myself at the top of the stairs, afraid to go down to watch TV. The noises got louder.

One night in particular, I was watching my brother while my stepfather was watching a game in a bar a few blocks away. We were in the bedroom watching TV when the thumping started. It sounded like someone was on the other side of the wall, in the hallway, banging his fist... Hard. Then it stopped. We made sandwiches in the kitchen. I was back in the bedroom when I heard my brother scream. He ran down the hallway, still screaming when he jumped on the bed next to me. He said paper plates were flying in the kitchen. We both went into the kitchen and found about a dozen plates lying on the floor next to the basement door, which was closed.

The plates had been on top of the refrigerator on the other side of the room. My brother was spreading peanut butter when the plates flew in front of him, one after the other. Suddenly something banged on the door we were standing next to... Violently. We ran into the bedroom again, the thumping and banging literally chased us down the hallway and into the bedroom. Both of us were screaming. I picked up the phone and called the bar, screaming for my stepfather. It took him five minutes to get home. It seemed like forever. The banging continued until he arrived. He heard it once, and then it stopped. He checked the house, checked outside and found nothing. We talked about this recently; he doesn't remember us kids being so terrified as we were that night.

We stayed there for a couple years, and then we had to move. Something in the house was making my sister very sick. My parents thought it was mould in her bedroom. She spent a lot of time in the hospital, sometimes when she was violently ill... She saw monsters. My sister has diabetes. We thought the monsters she saw were hallucinations due to low blood sugar. I took my wife (recently married), to this house (and all the others I've lived in) some twenty years after, and we stopped to talk to the current owner. Tactfully, I asked if she had experienced anything out of the ordinary since she's lived there. She said no. I mentioned a few things that I experienced when I lived there. Then she paused. "Yes." She said. She told us about ten years ago, on separate occasions, she and her daughter saw a "demon" in the basement. About the most evil looking thing she's ever seen especially the eyes. She remembered it being red. She's never had a problem with mould in the house.

We moved from there, back to Cudahy. Ironically, the first night we moved in, my brother and I lay on the floor in the bedroom and watched, "The Exorcist." I think it's funny now.

A few months later, for the first time, I saw something. Up until we moved there, I had only heard things move, heard noises in the middle of the night, and had been terrified by something I couldn't see. The noises continued... I almost got used to that through the years. I got used to seeing cupboards and doors, which were closed... Wide open the next time I walked into the room. Now I was watching the doors open. And for the first time I was watching objects float through the room, and for the first time, I saw him, (or is it, "it?"). Floating above the stairs, which, again, led toward the basement. I could see him from his top hat, past his, (for lack of a better word... "Frilly") shirt and overcoat, down to his knees. I couldn't see his feet, but he was standing, or rather, floating in front of me. He was yellow with a red outline. I closed the door. Didn't look like a demon to me, but nonetheless, disturbing.

Things calmed down after a while. Months would go by without a sound or something moving around. It was like that for a few years. Then he/it became a bit bolder. He would come up behind you and breath in your ear. You could feel his hand on your shoulder. Once he pulled me backwards off a chair and I landed hard, flat on my back. Things happened more and more frequently. The unexplainable terror, the "ice cube down your back" fear that would grip you became more frequent. For eight years, the family dog wouldn't go downstairs.

I joined the Air Force after graduation and moved to California in 1985. I've pretty much been here ever since. As far as I know, nothing followed me, and none of the houses I've lived in since have been haunted. I've told friends here about my stories, (too many to tell, too many to remember). Some believe and some don't. That's fine with me. I have old friends in Wisconsin who've experienced the strange goings-on in some of the houses. Some of who refused to come inside after experiencing "activity." Others thought it was cool. Sometimes I miss it, but I can live without it.

My parents have moved at least twice since I left Wisconsin. Activity continued, but appeared to diminish quite a bit. Now my mother is twice divorced and lives with my sister... Still in Cudahy, and apparently "ghost free."

Everything I've written is true. Nothing is embellished to make the stories sound more frightening... If anything, what I've written is on the subdued side. I could write pages more, but I'm already over the limit I tried to set for myself!

And to wrap things up here... If anyone thinks they have an explanation for the, "frozen in terror for no apparent reason" thing, psychological or not, I'd like to hear it. Of all the things I've seen and heard... That sensation was the most frightening of all.

Boy Scout Lane

In the quiet country side of Stevens Point, there is a piece of land that is not so quiet. It is Boy Scout Lane and its legend has been around for over 20 years. A brief summary for all who do not know about this place.

One version is that a troop of Boy Scouts on a camping trip were murdered by their bus driver on this isolated road. Another version of the story is that a Boy Scout troop mysteriously disappeared on this road and was never seen again. A third story is that a troop of Boy Scouts were camping here and some of them were wandering around at night and accidentally dropped a lantern resulting in a fire that killed the rest of the troop. However, there is no evidence of missing persons or a mass murder or a tragic fire. The road got its name because at one time the Boy Scouts owned the land there and had intentions of building a Boy Scout camp, but never happened.

Now that you know the history, I can explain our experience. It was a warm July night in 2005. My friend Erin was visiting our mutual friend Michelle and I up in Stevens Point. Michelle and I had worked at a Boy Scout Camp (ironic, huh?) that summer and Erin was to bring me back home in Minnesota when the weekend was over. We were bored, so Michelle suggested we go to Boy Scout Lane and do a little investigation. We had gone to a bookstore the day before and found the story in there. It intrigued us, so soon we were on our way with me in the backseat, video camera in hand.

Right when we turned onto the road, we felt uneasy. You know, that dreaded feeling of being watched. Being the young adults we are, we made jokes and tried to shake off that feeling. We went down the road and turned around, nothing special happened. What we saw when we got home is a different story.

Michelle hooked the video camera up to the television and played the footage. At first, it looked like nothing interesting. Until there was a point when I coughed (I had just gotten over a bad cold) and right after that, a heavy whispering breath followed. It was not me. Michelle, Erin and I looked at each other with wide eyes and we turned back to the television. The other two saw a bright ball of light flash by the screen for a split second, but I did not.

As I recorded us driving back to the main road, I faced the rolled up window (as everyone does, never thinking that spirits can go THROUGH things) towards the field that was supposed to turn into a camp. I had the infrared light on the camera, in case something moved in the field. Nothing moved in the field. Instead, we saw a face pressed up against the window. And no, it was not my face. The small screen of the video camera did not project enough light and I was not pressed up against the window. When the three of us saw this, we screamed and Michelle's mother started yelling at us. We ran into her room and told her what happened. She scorned us, yet refused to watch the footage.

Another little tidbit that we saw: In the rearview mirror there were two stationary lights in the upper corners. The area Boy Scout Lane is in is away from the city limits and no car was behind us. The lights did not leave until we got deep into town again. We have not gone out there since, but we have shown the tape to others and they see the same things. I don't know if Boy Scouts really haunt the area, but something does. I live in Stevens Point now and this town has a lot of history to it. Anything is possible and it just makes me more of a believer.

Bloody Walls

As I have said previously, besides the two stories which I had had personal experiences in, I am sadly out of any more personal material. Instead I have been relaying stories I have been told by close and personal friends or family.

While visiting an uncle in Milwaukee we had gotten into a discussion about one of their father's deceased brothers. So, my uncle's uncle.

Apparently the whole family used to run a farm back in the day and one night, he simply went berserk. He went out into one of the barns and got a wood chopping ax and went into their home. He climbed the steps up to the second floor and went into the guest bedroom where his cousins were sleeping. He killed them in cold blood and then killed himself.

In the morning they found the mess he left for his family to find. The room had gruesome splatters of gore on the walls and somehow some of it even managed to get up on the ceiling. After everything settled down, they tried to fix the room up, but the room refused to be covered up.

First they tried to paint the room, but after a few days to a week, the stains of the blood would seep through. After that, they tried to wall paper the room and after a few weeks, the blood managed to seep through the wall paper as well. They tried everything they could think of to cover the ever present reminder that a once loved family member killed his own, but it simply would not be removed, by paint, by paper, nor chemicals.

In the end, it was simply too expensive to remodel the room, so they converted it into a storage room. And as time went on the stains faded and faded and faded until one day it simply looked like someone made a mess with some old paint. Eventually the family sold the house and moved on.

How true is this story? I don't know, but I do know, that a sort of madness seems to be inherited in my family. One of my mother's uncles's shot himself in the face with a shotgun. It seems to happen almost every generation, a self inflicted tragedy occurs.

Darkness

In my previous story I mentioned that I have some dreams where I'm not completely sure if it actually was dream. Here is another experience.

Going back 4 or so years ago around the time I have my hair pulling incident see my previous story for that. I remember another time where I remember waking and looking around in my bed room. It was extremely dark except for some reason I could make out the purple on my bed quilt. I could feel a very menacing presence in my room. The room felt so heavy like a black and very dense mass was near my bed room door as if it was waiting for me to wake, I remember feeling really panicked and then it struck.

It was trying to attack me and it was by then on my bed and was trying to shred at my quilt to get me. I could feel its hate and anger, I couldn't scream and when I tried calling out to my mum who's bedroom is next to mine, the loudest I could utter was a whisper. It was taking all my strength it was making itself stronger with my fear feeding it.

I grabbed a glass on my bedside table and threw it at my wall causing a loud bang and then I remember everything stopping, the heaviness gone just like I clicked my fingers and snap it was finished.

The next thing I remember is waking the next morning, I got out of bed and my limbs ached like I did a 4 hour workout, the bedroom felt normal except for a little hint of something. I couldn't stop thinking about what it felt like a dream but so real and I really don't know what happened.

I asked my mum why she didn't come to my room and she said she didn't hear anything. It was a really weird and scary experience, I haven't had anything like that since and I pray I don't have another!

Black Bridge

My in-laws reside close to Black Bridge in Stevens Point, WI. It's located close to the Stora Enso paper mill in town. This happened about a year ago on a bright, sunny July afternoon. It was too hot to stay indoors and I was getting really antsy. I didn't want to stay home because the weather was too beautiful to waste indoors. My husband was working on building a greenhouse for my mother in law so I dragged his younger sisters, ages 12 and 15, with me on a walk.

His younger sisters were telling ghost stories as we head over to Black Bridge. One of the girls said Black Bridge was haunted and that people have seen a dark figure walk around the area. I laughed at their stories, saying that it's just an urban legend and brushed it off my shoulders. When we approached Black Bridge, there was a gate that held back people from slipping into the river. We stood on a ledge overlooking the river and the other side of town. On the river, we can see people on their boats and fishing.

The girls started talking about the stories they've heard about Black Bridge, I laughed at the non-sense. I leaned over the ledge to look below and I saw open shells of crayfish on rocks. I thought who would be crazy enough to go down there and catch crayfishes. Again, I brushed it off as if it was nothing and continued enjoying the scenery.

All of a sudden I heard a splashing sound coming from the waters. I looked down and saw pebbles dropping into the water. I leaned closer to look below the ledge at the bottom of the river to see who was throwing those pebbles but I could not locate anyone. The girls also heard this and tried to see where the pebbles were coming from. I thought this was a mean joke some local kids were playing with us because we were talking about ghost stories. So I told them to ignore it and we continued talking.

We heard the noise again. This time more rocks were thrown into the water and the splashes were louder. To our surprise when we looked down to the riverbank to see who was doing it, we didn't see anyone throwing those rocks but rocks were literally flying off the ground into the river. It was as if an invisible person was throwing rocks from the side of the river into the water.

I realized that this was not a human, local kid joke but something from the "other" side. We screamed and ran all the way back to my parents in law. Just when I thought nothing could happen on a beautiful, bright sunny day - anything anywhere is possible.

Barn Ghost 4

You may of read Barn Ghost 1 or 2 or even 3. You may have gotten a comment on your story from me. Thank you for trying to help with my other problems but this is when the ghost tries to talk with me and my family.

Last Friday night both of my boys were at a friend's house. My husband and I thought we should surprise the boys with getting them a puppy. Also, we need one so we can train it to lead the sheep into the barn. Well, we drove out to a neighbor where their dog Colie just had puppies. We got two and named them Lolly for the girl and for the boy, Gollip. Funny names, huh?

David and I put the puppies in the house and they slept on the couch. The boys weren't home so we thought, FRIDAY THE 13, why not go see the ghosts. And that's what we did. We heard the cats meowing and the horses neighing. Cow mooing, and the sheep bawling. We ran in the barn. We heard the ghost. Instead of saying help me. She said "Follow me. Follow me..." We saw her and she ran into the cat room. Me and David just had to follow. One of the cats was dead! And it was Andy's cat and he loves his cat! And on the ghost was blood. SHE KILLED OUR CAT! But at least it wasn't Casper. But still. Also next to the girl ghost was a ghost that looked just like DAVID! IT WAS HIS DOUBLE!

That night, David and I went on the internet and it said if you see your double you will die. MY HUSBAND IS GOING TO DIE!

I didn't write this story Barn Ghost 4 to scare you, but this is a ghost story and I think you should all read it. Today Saturday April 14, 2007, my husband David did not wake up. We called the ambulance. He went to the hospital at 7:00 this morning. At 9:00, we were told he had died.

Is this why the ghost girl stayed with us? To warn us that David would see his double? If so I would like to thank the ghost girl. And I do NOT want her to be put to rest.

Thank you for reading.

Hope

Barn Ghost 3

You may of read Barn Ghost 1 and 2, but last night the little girl returned! Come and join me as you hear the next thriller about my experience with this little girl. BARN GHOST 3!

It was 3:45pm and the kids were just getting done with school. Around 4:30pm they got home. Eathen and Andy ran right to the barn where their dad was. I saw them from the window and I forced myself to go see them. We have two doors to get outside. First, you open a door, go down some steps, another door, you're out. Well, I opened the first door and I saw my white little kitty CASPER! I picked him up and the second door opened. "HELP ME HELP ME!" cried a voice. I ran out of the house and laid down casper in the barn. He hissed and ran of. He was scared from me running. Why was Casper in the house? Why did the door open? Why did the ghost come at day time? Why did she want my help? What can I do, I am only human? She's already dead and is already on my nerves.

When I met up with my husband and kids, Eathen had a picture in his hand. Andy ran over by me tugging on my shirt. They showed me the picture. It was the little girl! But she was with another little girl. In the background was blood and a guy with a rope. THEY WERE IN OUR BARN! We ran over to which we now call THE GHOST SPOT, (where the little girl is always )! We saw the rope that was in the picture. Even though it was never there before.

Night came and we were waiting for her return. We heard a huge crash. We got a call from Cascade Police. We live in Cascade WI. Well that's what it said on caller ID. Then we saw the ghost girl. She waved and disappeared. Our t.v went out. (And still is not working now) We heard a voice "HELP ME HELP ME!" then we heard a different voice. Hard to hear but we could make out what he said. "ITS ALL OVER NOW" Then it was quiet. All we heard was the wind outside.

We went to bed, my boys had sleeping bags and were on the floor. At night, we heard people running around past our door. THE GHOSTS! I thought. Then we all heard crying. It was over and we fell asleep.

Which leaves us to now, April 12, 2007. It is 8:30 p.m now. We don't see any signs of her yet. WAIT, WE HEARD CRYING! I'LL WRITE LATER FOR BARN GHOST 4!

Barn Ghost 2

You may of read Barn Ghost. People told me to keep on writing if anything happens. Well last night, April 10, 2007, I woke up to a cry "HELP ME HELP ME!". I jumped out of bed. My sons ran in by me. "Mom what happened?" Eathen asked. He is 11 years old. Andy who is now 9, was hugging me. "Who is that?" asked Eathen. I got out of bed and put on my robe. I got on my boots and my family followed me. We ran into the barn.

It was late, so we did not run fast because we were tired. We ran back where we last saw the ghost. I held Andys hand and Eathen was being held by David. "HELP ME HELP ME!" the ghost kept crying. We did not see her, but Casper, another cat, even strays, were in a pack, hissing at the last spot when we saw the ghost.

The next morning I ran the kids to school, my boys were freaked so they each got to have a friend come over after school. Around 7 p.m. me and David went to feed the animals. The cats were still around in that spot. Some laying down. Some hissing, some meowing. "Here kitty kitty kitty" I heard a voice say. I backed up with fear. All the cats got in there pack and started hissing. "Knock it of..." I told the cats "DAVID COME HERE!" I shouted. I ran out of the barn to find my husband.

David and I ran in the barn with fear. We saw all the cats hissing. Then we saw the little girl. She waved and disappeared. This time she was hard to see. We went inside to the children. And around midnight, we heard the little girl cry "HELP ME HELP!".

Barn Ghost

I never once heard a person say they didn't believe in ghosts. But I couldn't help from noticing I was one of them. I was going out to the barn with my husband. He told me he had to go feed the bulls their night snack. And I had to go feed the cats. It was about 9:00 p.m. and we usually come out at 7:00 and feed them supper. But we had to go to the kids concert. David (my husband) went out back, and I went in the barn to the cat room, which we called it. Casper, our all white cat, was following me to the back room. I tried to turn on the lights but they didn't go on. So I turned on our lantern. I opened the door and pulled out the cat food bag. I felt a push on me, and I turned around quickly. No one was there. I thought it must be the cats, there always so pushy when it comes to feeding time.

I bended down again and started pouring their food. After that I got their water and milk, I set it down and pet the cats. Then another push came to me. And this time, I tripped, but didn't fall. "Knock it of" I said. Then the door closed and it left a loud noise going all around the barn. "DAVID!" I shouted. I looked out the window and I saw a figure move past quickly. "DAVID!" I shouted again. I heard a whisper, but could not make out who or what it said. I looked out the window again and I saw the figure again. But it didn't move. "DAVID!" I shouted again.

I went out of the cat room and kept on shouting for David. I heard another whisper. At this point I was terrified. I saw something go past me and it was blackish-whitish. Then I felt another push on my shoulder. Then I heard a little girl cry "HELP ME HELP ME!". It wasn't my children, I don't have any daughters. I followed the voice, and saw a little girl dress in a white dress, she looked like she came from the 1800's. Then she disappeared. I ran out of the barn, got my husband and he came in. I saw was her ghost hanging from a rope. Then the ghost disappeared.

We looked her up on the internet and it said that she was hung in our barn in the late 1900's! The internet showed a picture of a little girl dressed in a white dress. To this day (2 years later) we still see the little girl. But we never try to run away or get the ghost angry.

Attacks In The Night

It seems that throughout my life, I have been subject to incidents that cannot be explained... My parents have always described it as an 'overactive' imagination; however I think it's something more. At the moment, I am 14 years old, and I would like to share with you that which I have experienced.

A few years ago, I don't know, maybe I was 7... Maybe 8. I can't recall exactly. But anyways, I was asleep in my bed, which had one side pushed up against the wall. I suddenly awoke with a start - and was instantly filled with a feeling of dread and terror. I tried to move, but my limbs did not respond.

I then suddenly heard laughter, laughter caused by two presences. Their voices both seemed male, one older and darker than the other. Their laughter stopped, and the older one hissed,

"Interesting..."

The voice was so vivid and distinct; I still recognize exactly how it sounded and felt.

At this time, I felt a sharp pressure on my thighs - like something was pushing me down against the bed. I fought back against this, attempting to kick my arms and legs. The two presences suddenly receded and disappeared, leaving me lying out of breath on my bed.

After explaining the experience to my parents, they simply dismissed it as a dream. A year or so later, a more dramatic incident happened.

I was sleeping once more, in the same bed. I awoke with the same sense of fear, while trying to figure out what was going on. I noticed a shadow stretching out across my doorway, and slowly the figure of a crawling man began to enter my room. It was too dark to notice any distinct features of the creature, but I could see that his head was tilted at an odd angle; as if its neck was broken.

I heard the two voices again, but this time I could not understand what they were saying. The older voice seemed quiet, almost tired. The younger presence seemed excited and loud.

The man was crawling closer and closer to my bed, in which I once again fought and fought - trying to move. I suddenly felt a rush of energy, and I tumbled off the bed and onto the floor. I noticed that the apparition had disappeared, which I was glad of. I then felt drained, and fell asleep there on the floor.

Nothing else significant has happened in the last few years... But after these two incidents, I have moved from my old bedroom into my brother's room, which moved out a few years ago.

As far as I know, this house really has no history. It's only a few years old.

If anyone can help me explain the two presences, then please, don't hesitate to share your thoughts.

An Echoy Voice

My family and I moved to a new house. We stayed in the living room because it was hot upstairs; we slept in the living room for 2 nights. We hadn't dragged up the mattresses to the second floor and we needed to stay cool.

I and my family slept, but not well. My mom asked me in the morning if I heard anything and I said no. She told me that she had herd a voice and it sounded like it was an echo or in a tunnel. My mom said it sounded like a girl or young woman and it was coming from the basement door area. She says that it clearly said "mom?...mom?" like she was looking for someone.

My dad and mom then heard it the second night, the same thing. I and my family do believe that it was a girl that was murdered somewhere else. The family of the girl did move into the house we live in now but then moved out after.

We feel like we are being watched, followed etc. My dad once heard what sounded like typing, heard what sounded like a pile of papers fall but nothing fell. Once my mom left a half cup of orange juice out and woke in the middle of the night to find it was gone! She asked if anyone drank it and we said no.

My sister and I think that the girl's spirit tries to get attention from my parents because she wasn't able to say goodbye to her own when she died. We think that she is very nice and we hope she will stay here as long as she doesn't scare us!

A Scary Illusion Of Two Little Girls

All right let me start by telling you this, my nationality is Hmong. We strongly believe in the paranormal or spirits, whatever you call it. Anyway, I'm not quite sure what I have experienced, if it was real or just my imagination playing tricks on me, but it did scared me very much because I have never had anything like this happened to me before.

This may not be the best ghost stories, but hang in there with me. I believe it was toward the end of 2004 when this event occurred. I was 3-4 months pregnant with my very first child; it was early in the morning, around 6:00am, my husband left for work. While I was still asleep in bed I suddenly woke up to this very weird sense that surrounded the room as if I was dreaming. I remember seeing clouds or fogs on my bedrooms ceiling. I mean it was so weird, I just couldn't rule out if this was real. It was like I was being possessed or seduced. My eyes were open, but I was so sleepy. Whatever it was, did not want me to see them or if it did, it was only meant for me to think I was dreaming, seeing an illusion or hallucinating. Do you ever feel like when you drink too much and become drunk, but still wide awake and your seeing stuff or people doing things to, but you don't feel it. Then when you wake up it was like a dream, which it actually did happen. That was what exactly how I feel at that moment.

I was lying flat on my bed when I heard sounds of little girls laughing. At that moment my heart started to beat so fast and I was very scared and sweating. As I raised my eyes up to look at the end of the bed, where I thought I heard the laughter coming from. Now the height of my bed was high so for me to see clearly I was not able to. But, what did catch my eye was there were two little heads popping up and down at the end of my bed. I could only see the forehead and they appeared to be two little girls playing and chasing one another. Don't forget, I still felt sleepy and there was still fogs around in my bedroom. Then I noticed the two girls started to walk to the side of my bed where I was lying. OMG! I was so freaked out that before they made it to my side of the bed, I closed down my eyes so tight and pretended to sleep. I then felt both of them climbing on to my bed with me and I could feel them looking down at my face, laughing and giggling. At that moment all I could do was to close my eyes. This event lasted for like a few minutes, but it seemed forever and the next thing I knew, I had fallen asleep. Now, I haven't told you this, these two little girls were Hmong. How do I know? When they walk around to my side of the bed, I was able to take a quick glimpse at them and noticed that they were wearing our culture (Hmong clothing).

After some hours of sleeping, I woke up with not even remembering what just happened. I mean I woke up and did my usual chores around the house and just relaxed watching television. My husband got home from work, which was around 3:40pm. We drove to Hollywood video between 6:00-7:00pm it was already dark. While I was sitting on the passenger side just looking out the window daydreaming, that's when I started to remember everything that happen to me. I then started to tell my husband about what happen to me after he left to work. I told him that it was like I was dreaming, but at the same time it seemed so real. My husband did believe me because like I said earlier, in our culture we strongly believed in the paranormal thing, and stuff like this occurred often to Hmong people.

I'm very confused, and so is my husband. We just don't know what it was or why it happened.

Therefore, I'm very sorry if this was such a long and boring story, but I just got to tell it out. Now, I often think is it because I was pregnant at that time and this was a sign of something or was my mind with the pregnant hormones just playing trick on me? Comments would be nice.

I'm pretty new to this site and this is my first story I have submitted. This happened to me about six months ago, so please excuse me If I get a few details wrong or if my memory is a bit hazy. This experience was not my first of a ghostly encounter. All my life I've been able to see stuff the rest of my family can't see... Not to sound creepy or anything! No one else in my family really believe in this sort of stuff, only me. So I'm pretty on my own when it comes to the supernatural. But I suppose on this site I don't have to hide anymore. All of what I write is true. I don't care if you believe me or not. But this is what happened to me.

I went to the battlefields of the First World War on a school trip. We stayed in a youth hostel in Belgium close to the French border. I was in a room with some of my closest friends. The first night we arrived at the hostel it was quite late and we went to bed pretty early. I remember feeling really cold in the room but everyone else said they were warm. But we all got to bed and went to sleep pretty easily. I woke up in the night at about three o clock in the morning. I could hear the sound of a battle all around me. I remember hearing gun shots and explosions and cannon-like booms. At first I thought that the TV was on but there was no way it could be that loud. I was really scared and I could pick out screams and crying amongst the artillery fire. Then they just stopped suddenly. I hope it was my own imagination. But I wouldn't be on this web site if I thought that!

The next day we traveled to Ypres. I had a great Uncle to find in Ypres Resovoir Cemetery. He was a member of the Kings royal rifle corps and died in the third battle of Ypres apparently. Well I found him. I started to cry as I stood in front of the grave. All I had was a measley poppy to give him and I felt bad after all he'd done for his country and family. Then I felt a warming presence around me that comforted me. It calmed me down and stopped me from crying. It made me feel contented and warm. The only way I can describe it is that it felt familiar.

I had to move on pretty fast because everyone else was waiting on the bus for me. We moved on to the more famous sites like the Menin Gate and Pashendale. But I felt the presence following me. From one sight to the next I felt like it was there near me. One of my friends commented that I looked a bit distracted and kept looking behind me all the time. The presence was still there when I went to sleep the second night at the hostel.

Nothing happened that night. I didn't hear the noise, but when I woke up I thought I saw an outline of a person by one of my friends beds. The next day when we were all awake I asked my friends if any of them had gotten up in the night and they all said no. They asked me what was up but I couldn't tell them because they'd think I was weird. But I had a good friend in another dorm room who I would tell, he believes in the paranormal like me and is the only one I can talk to about this. But he is a male friend and I wasn't allowed in his room at that time.

I managed to grab a seat next to him on the bus going to the Canadian trenches (can't remember which country it was in we had crossed the border so many times!). I told him what had happened to me since I arrived at the Somme. I could still feel the presence around me and I told him this as well. We all arrived at the sight and had a look around.

The trench system is not what it used to be but you can still stand in it and have your head covered. I didn't like going through there because I felt uncomfortable. It had been raining for the past couple of days and the trench was really muddy and wet. It was drizzling slightly when we were at the Canadian trenches. I hung at the back of the group with my friend and he took pictures of everyone. Later on when the photos were developed there are lots of white spots around all of us. I will try and post the photos but the spots may be rain but there weren't raindrops in the air, just a sort of wet drizzle. But my friend decided he wanted a photo of me and the rest of the group had gone off to explore. But behind my friend appeared a figure of a male soldier. It was fuzzy at first but came into focus as he got closer. I was really terrified and I looked it too, and my friend noticed it. He looked behind him and he saw the man too. I saw him fully then, and I saw that nearly all of his right arm had been blown apart. This frightened me so much I legged it away from there and my friend followed me.

My friend had seen the man too so I wasn't going insane. I am still petrified whenever I think of the man. I didn't sleep at all that night at the hostel. I still felt the presence but it felt a bit distant that night. The next day our last visit was to the old English front line. Nothing happened there. But we started the journey home after that. When I got on the ferry the presence seemed to disappear and I have never felt the same presence at home.

It was a terrifying trip. My friend never talks about what we saw in the Canadian trenches. I'm glad I've shared my story with you though, it will be good to know what other people make of what happened.

A Horrible Parent

I was staying at my friend's house, her name's Chelsea. But I had this horrible feeling in the pit of my stomach.

After a semester of school and staying over at her house I discovered something very creepy.

In her basement is a very old well. I got her talking about it and knowing that the well was the source of misery I felt in her house, I got her to reveal something I found incredible sad. She told me that her brother and her found toys at the bottom of the well. I was too scared to ask what they were but I had a feeling I already knew.

It was a week or so later when I was with her and her boyfriend that I saw these depressing images.

In my head, the image of a drunk mother dragging her child by her hair out of a room on the second floor, the child grabbing in desperation for anything she could and the only thing she managed to grab before she was put down into the well was her most prized possession, her rag doll. And not only did this drunken woman have a daughter tormented by the isolation of this well, but also a son.

I asked Chelsea how she felt when she was in her house near the well and she would get a distant look in her eyes and say "I feel like something horrible happened down there..." I asked her one last question about the well. I asked her about the toys. I asked "Chelsea, those toys you found in the well... Was there a rag doll with brown hair, blue eyes and a little yellow lunch box?" Her eyes were wide, almost like I had scared her.

What she said next confirmed my connection between the well and the spirits lingering in her house.

She asked me in quiet desperation, "Jess...How did you know about the toys...? I never told you what they were..."

Her house is occupied with the spirits of two small children, the memories of the children tormented by their drunken mother and images of the tormenting well.

I don't believe these entities to be angry or a threat but anyone who enters this house is instantly able to feel that something horrible happened there. I can tell they feel this way by the look in their eyes. I here the children scream in my mind when I'm at her house.

This is not a place I like to stay in and I haven't been back to my friend's house since I discovered what went on there.
