Jack Where Are My Keys?

My family has a history of unusual encounters so I was not surprised when I began experiencing things that were out of the ordinary. As a child, I was more afraid of these encounters and so I closed myself off from those around me. I really became aware of a presence when I was around 14. I would practice my violin in my room and I would feel a distinct presence directly behind me. It was obviously male to me.

This continues to this day although I have not played my violin consistently since I graduated from high school. It makes me feel uncomfortable but I think that is only because they stand very closely behind and I can tell they are intently focused on me.

My mother has mentioned that she has seen her grandfather on occasion and although I never met him I just feel that it is likely him.

Last year my family moved into military housing built in the early 50's. This was an old duplex so any noises I attributed to my neighbors. There was constant electrical interference in the house. Speakers would buzz for no reason and my lights would flicker.

I know this could be explained by old electricity but that was not the only thing I experienced. I would often see shadows out of the corner of my eye and I was always drawn to looking at certain areas of the room.

My son's room was always very uncomfortable. Whoever was there did not like me there. They seemed to will me out of the room. My son had a horrible time falling asleep in that room and would wake up screaming as if he had been scared awake. The spirit didn't intend to harm us, just didn't like us in the room. My cat always acted strangely in that room as well. He was drawn to it unlike any other room in the house.

While I was in the old house I noticed something that I think I've been blocking out for a few years. I have attracted my own trickster ghost. He loves to hide things, like my keys and such. I always thought I was just forgetful (which I can be) but I've noticed that if I ask to have the things I've lost back and wander around a bit more, my things will turn up in a place I could have sworn I've already looked.

I don't know why but the name Jack just seemed to pop into my head. When I know Jack is around I have this sense that he is almost laughing. I never hear anything but I've always been sensitive to emotions, typically with the living. My husband actually thinks it is kind of creepy how empathic I am. I like Jack. He feels like a friend although I've never known anyone named Jack my entire life.

In addition to these experiences I feel strange cold spots.

Haunting Connection Between My Cousin And I

This story starts off a bit odd for me anyway. Let me start off at the beginning. Several years back, I used to notice some things. I have seen things move, or heard noises and not know where they came from, and so on. I have had several experiences like this. The main story is not about me though. This story is more about my 14 year old cousin.

I will start with a few of my personal experiences. When I was 10 or 11 I used to have a dog that would stop and stare at something in my room. Every time she did this, my room would get very cold. A few times she did this; she would put her tail between her legs and run out of my room. I always thought it odd, but never really paid any attention to it. One night, my brother and I woke up at the same time because we thought we heard our dad tell us to get up. We had bunk beds and slept in the same room. I looked down to him, and he asked me, "Did dad just tell us to get up?" Right when he asked, our TV came on. I told him to turn off the TV, and it went off. The remote was sitting on top of the TV and the TV was about 4 feet away from my brother. We got up and went to my parent's room and they were both sleeping.

Things like that would happen from time to time, but never paid much attention to them. I did not think too much about it. I mean, it was not hurting me, so why bother with paying attention to it? Which brings me too many years later and much more recent. My Great Grandparents recently passed away. At the funeral I was reunited with a cousin that I had not seen since she was born. Our Birthdays are 14 years and 4 days apart. So we celebrated our birthdays that year together. It's been almost a year that we have been talking to each other.

What is odd though is that we found, the very first day we were reunited, after not seeing or talking to each other for almost 14 years, that it seemed as if we had always been close. I am not someone that gets very close to anyone. I mean it took a lot for me to get close to my wife. I am not close with my parents, my siblings, or friends. So this seems odd to me. Well a few months ago she started telling me about some things that were happening to her that she could not explain.

Every time we are together, I always get a feeling that there is something bothering her. So I always ask her about it, and she didn't seem to want to tell me what was going on. When she started telling me about some events though, and realized that I was listening and not just passing it off as she was lying, she started to tell me more. Ever since she was 5 she has felt that she was being haunted. She has felt that she has been pushed, grabbed, tripped, hair pulled, and so on. She has also heard a voice, but it's never loud enough for her to understand what it is saying.

Well she has had some problems at home, so she comes to stay with me every now and then for a few days to get away from some of the stresses she is going through. One night, while she was at my house she was talking and then got quiet all of a sudden. I asked her what was wrong, but she just shook her head. I thought maybe it was something she was thinking about at home. I noticed the next morning that she had a red mark on her neck. She told me she didn't know what it was from. It was a few days later that she told me about feeling haunted.

A few days ago, my wife came to me and told me about an experience she had after my cousin left. The very night we took her home; my 1 year old daughter woke up at 3am and started crying. My wife heard her on the baby monitor so she walked to her room. She thought she heard a voice in my daughter's room so she opened the door and my daughter was standing in her crib looking around like someone had been there and left. She was also talking like she does when she is trying to say something to me or my wife. My wife put her back to sleep and came back to bed.

My wife had just fallen back to sleep when she felt something on the bed. We have one of those temperpedic mattress with the memory foam. My wife woke up thinking that my 4 year old son had come into the room and sat on the bed. When she looked to the spot where she thought my son was, there was no one there, but there was an imprint on the memory foam. She got up and walked into my son's room and he was asleep. When she came back into our room the imprint was still there and her imprint from lying in bed was gone. Just as she started to really pay attention to the imprint of what she thought was my son, it started to go away.

Then today, I started talking to my cousin online through messenger like I do almost everyday, and she told me that she woke up with scratches on her thigh and buttocks. I drove to her house to look around her room, and did not find anything that would have caused it while she was sleeping. She showed me the scratches. They were very high up on her inner thigh and on her buttocks close to her hip like someone had grabbed her from behind and tried to pull her towards them.

I looked some things up before writing this story. From what she has explained and from the scratches, it seems like an incubi is what she might be dealing with. I am very much a skeptic though, and I am looking for ways to try to find out what is happening. My wife is also a skeptic and is not someone that scares easily. So with this story I am also seeking answers to questions because I am not really sure where to look. I am an Atheist. So looking towards religion doesn't really work for me. First, how can I find out if what is happening to my cousin might be related to things that have happened to me and my family? Second, is it possible that my connection to my cousin is more than just a close bond that seemed to form so quickly? Third, is a story like this ever happened before?

Ghosts Of My Past

I am new to the site so please forgive me if I make a few mistakes in my tellings. For background information I am 29 and pretty level headed. I grew up in a sinti family (gipsy to you gadji)

And the occult and paranormal was a regular thing. I didn't even realize that others did not have such things in their lives until I started school. Well on to the beginning. When I was a baby my mother divorced my father and married again when I was 5. He moved us out to a nice single wide trailer in the country in Louisiana. It was there that the spirits of the past started to come to me and my sisters.

The land was part of an old plantation and was a tradition of the few neighbors we had for everyone to sit outside and listen to the sounds of an invisible horse and wagon pass. We could all hear clear as day the sounds of hooves on the gravel road, the clatter of the draw chains and the creak of the wood. It was never scary and now I know it was just a residual haunting. But the worst came at night.

I very vividly remember that trailer on that huge plot of land. Every night as a child I and my middle sister who shared a room with me would wake up exactly at the same time, as would my oldest sister who had her own room and my Mother. My step-father always slept through it all. We would hear the front door open and foot steps walking through to the kitchen then followed by the creaking sound of the cabinets and the scratch of the drawers drawing open. The trailer would plunge so cold you could see your breath no matter how hot it was. In the mornings we would get up to find every door in the house open, every cabinet open, every drawer pulled out. It used to infuriate my step-father since he thought it was a joke us kids were playing on him.

My mother and just about everyone in my family has the gift of one kind or another. So, tired of it my entire mother called it out. We all saw the form of a man appear in a misty darkness. It swelled from the floor and just glared at us like we were disturbing HIM! My mother told Him he was scaring us children and to leave. He just laughed and sank back through the floor. Things got worse after. In the dark I would waken to my bed shaking hard, the whole frame and mattress like someone was jerking hard on it.

Then from the side something would drag me to the floor. An evil looking thing, it kind of looked like those gremlins from the movie. But at that time I had never seen it so had no idea about it so was not a dream from watching it. Its skin would glisten slimy and its fingers were so cold they burned. To this day I remember the wicked grin on its face, devious and malicious like it wanted to eat me. I would scream and scream and my sister would start screaming because she would see it too. Finally my Mother started having us sleep with her. I never did find out what it was but I think was some earth bound spirit who was out to destroy the family.

Okay, that is all for now. I will be posting more of my story here later as it spans the length of my life and continues even now. If you have any comments or what no please feel free to offer any up. I ask though please to not be leaving negative like "oh you are dumb" or anything of the type. Thanks.

Ghost's Playing With My Lights

Lately my parents have been yelling at me for leaving my bedroom light switched on. But the problem is that I don't leave them on.

This started last year. I was getting ready for school when I heard someone whisper my name. I thought it was my nana but she was downstairs and when I asked her, she said she didn't say anything. So I started to get freaked out. Since then my lights have started to do what they do now. When I leave for school I switch them off and when I come home I get yelled at for leaving them on.

A few weeks ago I was straightening my hair in the bathroom. I had switched off my bedroom lights. I then heard kids laughing followed by a woman's voice saying, "Come on now kids don't go in there." I thought it was my nana watching T.V so I went to check but the T.V wasn't on. I went in my room to see if my T.V was on but it wasn't but my light was on. This freaked me out a lot.

What happened last night scared me even more. I have a bunk bed. By my bed I have a touch lamp on a shelf. When I went into my room to show my friend something the touch lamp was on. You have to touch it hard because it is broken and I haven't used the lamp in a long time so this really scared me.

I have tried to tell my mom that I don't leave the lights on but she does not listen.

So if you have any idea of what might be happening please tell me.

An Evil Voice Mimicking My Daughter

I am used to seeing ghosts, (at night and during the day) and I am used to dreaming lucid dreams that come true. But I have never experienced an evil being until a few years ago.

I have a vacation home in Florida. Two years ago my 3 year old was on a hot chocolate kick. Every night before bed she would ask me to make her some hot chocolate. One night I awoke to a voice speaking in my ear, "Mommy, can I have some hot chocolate?" it was my daughter's voice, but yet it was not. It was mimicking my daughter in a sick and evil way. I opened my eyes and looked over to my daughter who was next to me and she was sound asleep.

Last year, I was sleeping and felt someone holding down my shoulders very hard. I opened my eyes (I sleep with the TV on) and I saw a black mass flying around the room. Almost like 10, 000 bugs all grouped together to form a big mass of darkness. I have seen and heard many strange things in my life, (too many to write here) but this was the first time that I can actually say that it was pure evil.

For those of you who experience things that you don't like or want, here is my trick and it always works. I am not the most religious person by any stretch, but I say the Our Father and Hail Mary and they always seem to stop. At least for the rest of the night. My husband taught me that, he does not have gift or curse (whichever way you wish to view it) that I have but he is very understanding.

A Presence Is Attached To Me And Is Attacking My Boyfriend

Apologies for the title; there's a character limit and I really didn't know how to give this experience a "specific, meaningful title" as it is ongoing...

To give a small amount of background info: I'm 29 years old, live on Long Island in NY State and I've been actively involved with the paranormal and have an obligatory, life-long relationship with it in many ways. My father was an Empath and had a number of very real experiences throughout his lifetime; he helped me deal with and understand my experiences through the years as that "gift" had passed on to me; he passed away in 2006 at the age of 47. He was very open-minded and though he was not religious, he was a very spiritual person. I was raised in such a way that I've never been 'fed' ideas or 'led' to believe anything - my father always insisted I educate myself and never subscribe to anything without careful research and consideration, to be aware, to keep an open mind, and to be receptive yet logical.

Although I've had many paranormal experiences, I've always felt one singular, familiar presence - no matter where I've lived, and was at one point chronicling my paranormal experiences in my old home on paranormal.about.com (a lot of heavy energy and poltergeist activity - very physical in nature and events had been witnessed by many people, including the 3 housemates I'd had as they all experienced it frequently); I have seen multiple spirits/entities/energies, etc, and when I'd felt I could no longer handle the 'visual' aspect of these encounters, I no longer 'saw' them as vividly but started to 'feel' them; now, it seems they form what I can only describe as "thought-feelings" in my mind - I can't really find an accurate way to articulate what exactly it is. I do see shadows, energy and lights - but mostly I feel an image start to form in my mind and that's what I go by. I've suffered from insomnia for years and have to take medication in order to sleep at night. Otherwise I'm completely awake and cannot sleep due to the overwhelming sensation of being watched. I'd been to psychologists, psychiatrists and therapists throughout my life in an effort to try to understand what was happening to me, and all have agreed that I'm completely sane. My mother, although in denial of her abilities out of fear, has prophetic dreams and has experienced paranormal activity as well. She blames most of it on me.

Currently, after a period of either dormancy (or ignorance on my part due to mt focus being on an overwhelming level of stress and personal issues) I've been experiencing this singular, familiar presence more than anything else. My current boyfriend is complaining that he's being woken up during the night multiple times, says that he has been choked and feels that a presence is intentionally keeping him from sleeping. I attempted to explain 'sleep paralysis' and how the brain releases chemicals during REM sleep to keep us mildly paralyzed so we don't "act out" our dreams, that sometimes we wake up suddenly, that the effect hasn't worn off yet so we may still be in a sort of "dream state" (hence hallucinations) and cannot move due to the protective paralytic until it wears off and things come into focus again. I've also explained that this can cause very scary and vivid hallucinations and the fear can be overwhelming. He's adamant that is not the case. Now, if this experience were unique to him, I would simply conclude that he is in fact experiencing "night terrors" or "sleep paralysis" and would not link it to what I'm experiencing. However, along with him, both my ex-fiancée (which preceded my current relationship and was a 5-year, domestic relationship) along with the ex I'd dated for 3 years preceding my 5-year relationship have complained of the exact same experience, all three vehemently denying sleep paralysis and acknowledging that they've never experienced this prior to dating me! I can't believe that this is the third relationship where my boyfriend is actually being attacked in his sleep. It cannot be coincidence. All three of them have been very convincing in their defense of this. I, myself have never experienced sleep paralysis or anything like these "attacks" but most certainly have felt this presence, especially at night when I'm going to bed. I'm fairly sure this may be one of the most common symptoms of a personal haunting.

Over the past few months, I've woken up with mysterious bruising, scratches and cuts as well; some rather large, yet I have no memory of injuring myself in any way or of anything hurting me... I am anemic so if I were to injure myself the bruising would definitely come easily and be quite apparent, but some of these bruises have either looked like someone had grabbed me with their fingers and were gripping tightly, or were simply dark, large and completely unexplainable (placed strangely: inner thigh, back, inner upper arm). I'd go to bed without them, and either wake up to find them once I'd showered or while I was getting dressed or have had them pointed out to me. Strange cuts have appeared, mainly on my hands and arms; sometimes on my chest, under the collarbone area. I really just thought that I'd possibly done something in my sleep or had forgotten that I'd bumped into something, but I've never been known to sleep-walk. My ex-fiancée (who again, lived with me for 5 years and who has observed me in my sleep many times), as well as my current boyfriend (whom I'm living with, and obviously also has been awake when I've been sleeping) have reported that when I do sleep, I sleep completely through the night. I've never had anyone assert that I walk in my sleep. I'm pretty much dumbfounded. The lights in our apartment have been turning on at night, as we go to bed with them off, and wake up to them on: the light in the foyer, kitchen, bathroom, etc... Every light but the room we sleep in! Just this morning the door, which had been locked, unlocked somehow on its own. Things go missing, and then turn up in random places a week later - very typical.

I have noticed that the complaints coming from my current boyfriend have coincided with our arguments, some of which are immensely frustrating and upsetting to me, and since I feel I'm not getting anywhere with him, I hold it all in and have considered that it is possible that my subconscious frustration could act out on its' own, BUT - it's not the first time this has happened, and this feels completely separate, like an external presence. I don't know how to describe it. It's doubtful to me that it's defending me in some way because it has (with what seems like intent) terrified *me* over the years - touching me in my sleep, slamming doors, opening doors, banging on walls, moving or throwing objects, breathing on me, calling my name and just keeping the air thick with a general unease that's palpable. It has never, to my knowledge, hurt me though, unless the unexplained injuries have been sustained from this thing? I don't know if they're related. This presence is completely segregated from the number of other paranormal experiences I've had, or other spirits I've felt or seen.

I'm fairly educated when it comes to general haunting, sleep disorders, etc but I really don't know how to classify this at all, or what to do about it. It seems I cannot get a handle on what this is. Usually I could feel if it was a human spirit, but this thing eludes me. I've tried cleansing, sage, crystals, salt, meditation and affirmations, "taking control over/claiming my home", etc... My father, while alive, warned against the use of a Ouija Board as it is a doorway and you don't have any control over what happens, yet suggested I try automatic writing? I always felt it was worse to attempt this because in essence you're allowing something in; to use you. I can see how it would be 'OK' for an experienced Psychic-Medium who channels and can manage a certain level of choice/control, but not for someone who has never attempted this with some kind of (seemingly) dark entity.

I'm open to any and all suggestions. I'd really like for this entity, whatever it may be as I cannot sense exactly what it is, to stop harassing me; my boyfriend. Even my Chihuahua is flipping out; barking all night at nothing and it's stressing her out. She paces back and forth on top of me all night and barks at whatever this thing is. I'd like to be free of it. It seems to be completely tied to me in some way. I'm apprehensive to attempt to communicate with it - aside from my occasional shouting at it, which leads me to feel foolish, lol - because I do respect and fear that I am completely ignorant to what this 'thing' is.

If anyone has had or is having a similar experience, I'd really like to hear about it. A solution? I am not crazy... The people that know me; some of which have known me for 20+ years, would all attest to the fact that I am sane and not prone to flights of fancy. I'm the first one to dismiss a bump in the night or a creaky floorboard as a "ghost".

Thank you in advance to anyone who has any input that could lead to a better understanding of what this could be.

Ghosts in my Closet

I am writing this today to tell you of the ghost and things I saw as a young child. I think I must have been around 4 years old. I'm not sure, when I had my 1st sighting.

It took place in the house my mother still lives in today. If I was to sleep with my bedroom door or closet door open, I would see ghost. The house is a 3 bedroom home and I had this happen in both of the rooms I used to sleep in. I remember always being scared and having to pull the covers over my head to go to sleep. If my bedroom door was open I would see ghostly people walking in through the doorway. If my closet door was open I would see people in my cloths. This happened as far back as I can remember. Finally as I got older I made sure the doors were closed.

I also had a cousin that had a grandmother and great grandmother that passed away and we were lying in the grass on the side of my house looking at clouds. We were talking about how mean her great grandmother was. We both saw a dagger falling from the sky. When we heard it hit and stick in the ground between us, we looked and nothing was there. We both got the heck up and ran in our houses scared to death. She still remembers that until this day.

We also had this weird thing happen to us when we were talking about the same great grandmother. We were both lifted up off the ground. Our bodies were at a slant, feet off the ground. It was as if a cold wind came and picked us up. After we were back on the ground again we both ran home and were scared.

I remember having déjà vu all the time. I still have it sometimes. I used to dream dreams that were so real, I would wake up and it felt like they really happened. I still have dreams like that from time to time. I remember dreaming of snakes as a child and I could feel them crawling all over me. I have had several dreams that I have dreamed more that once over a period of years.

I think the thing that scared me the most, is what I saw in my house my 1st husband and I built. I was pregnant for our 4th child and we were having marital problem. I chose to sleep on the cough in the living room. I was scared and felt as if someone else was watching me. I saw a dark figure of a girl in the kitchen. I was so scared I went back and slept in our bed with my husband at the time.

I know there are so many things that took place with me as a child and even some as an adult. I would love to be able to hear what a true medium has to say about me. Well until later I will enjoy reading about others who have had similar things happen to them.

My Friend 'george'

When I was 12, my mother met a new man and soon married. We moved from the run down terraced house we lived in, and moved into a better area, a little cul-de-sac that was larger than we had lived in before. From the first time I stepped in that house, I never felt lonely. Even though when I was young and my mother worked a lot and my step-father was away from home during the week. I have two biological little brothers and during the week they'd go to my grandparent's house after school but I was deemed old enough to stay at home by myself.

At first it was just footsteps in the rooms upstairs, and glimpses of a man out of the corner of my eye, always leaning on the doorway and looking at me. He looked elderly to me. Soon, my relationship with my mother and step-father broke down and I spent a lot of time in my room either on the computer or reading. I started having nightmares about my real father who was not a nice man, and I secluded even further into myself.

The footsteps and glimpses carried on, even when my step-father was home.

One night my step-father, who's a military man and very hard to intimidate, went white and started shaking for no reason. He said he felt ill but kept glancing at the ceiling where the footsteps were, upstairs in my bedroom. It carried on like that until one night I had a particularly bad dream and I woke up calling out for my mother. I felt a soft brushing, like fingers, on my cheek and heard "Sh, Sh, No more crying," in ear and instantly I felt better. I felt small touches on my cheeks, which I know are now called 'Butterfly Kisses', from time to time when I was on my own and feeling down, or stressed out.

My cousin slept over one night in my bedroom and after watching some comedies, we went to sleep. I woke up to her shaking me and pushing me over so she could get in bed next to me. She said I'd been crying in my sleep so she'd turned around to see if I was okay, but there was a black mass leant over me and touching my cheek. It'd scared me but I felt comforted by it.

I named him George but I have no idea if that's his real name. It just felt right to call him something.

I don't live there anymore as I live with my fiancée, but I still think about George and occasionally feel Butterfly Kisses on my cheek when I have a bad dream.
