The Goblin of Easton

Read the article and leave a comment.

There was once a monk at the mission who loved money and power more than he loved God. He would hear the confession of the good folk who attended the mission, and then would blackmail them into giving him gold and silver to keep their darkest secrets. He turned many a wayward sinner's feet towards the fires of hell rather than the gates of heaven, encouraging their crimes in secret while he reviled them in public.

It was after he beat one poor old woman to death that the evil monk was imprisoned and sentenced to hang for his crimes. But just after he was cut down from the noose and pronounced dead, his corpse began to transform before the horrified eyes of the people. The face twisted and small tusks sprang from either side of his nose. His shock of white hair grew long and greasy, and two pointed canines emerged from his slit of a mouth. The goblin-monk opened eyes that glowed yellow even in the light of noon-day, and sprang to feet that now ended in claws rather than toes.

The people screamed and fled, and no prayer of his former brothers-in-faith could banish the goblin. It disappeared deep into the forest, only to return at night and prey upon the monks of the mission who had been responsible for its death. After five of the brothers had fallen to the goblin, the rest of the monks abandoned the mission and moved to another part of the country. Since that time, the mission-house had slowly fallen into ruin.

Army of the Dead

A laundress, newly moved to Charleston following the Civil War, found herself awakened at the stroke of twelve each night by the rumble of heavy wheels passing in the street. But she lived on a dead end street, and had no explanation for the noise. Her husband would not allow her to look out the window when she heard the sounds, telling her to leave well enough alone. Finally, she asked the woman who washed at the tub next to hers. The woman said: "What you are hearing is the Army of the Dead. They are Confederate soldiers who died in hospital without knowing that the war was over. Each night, they rise from their graves and go to reinforce Lee in Virginia to strengthen the weakened Southern forces."

The next night, the laundress slipped out of bed to watch the Army of the Dead pass. She stood spell-bound by the window as a gray fog rolled passed. Within the fog, she could see the shapes of horses, and could hear gruff human voices and the rumble of canons being dragged through the street, followed by the sound of marching feet. Foot soldiers, horsemen, ambulances, wagons and canons passed before her eyes, all shrouded in gray. After what seemed like hours, she heard a far off bugle blast, and then silence.

When the laundress came out of her daze, she found one of her arms was paralyzed. She has never done a full days washing since.

Ghosts Of My Past

I am new to the site so please forgive me if I make a few mistakes in my tellings. For background information I am 29 and pretty level headed. I grew up in a sinti family (gipsy to you gadji)

And the occult and paranormal was a regular thing. I didn't even realize that others did not have such things in their lives until I started school. Well on to the beginning. When I was a baby my mother divorced my father and married again when I was 5. He moved us out to a nice single wide trailer in the country in Louisiana. It was there that the spirits of the past started to come to me and my sisters.

The land was part of an old plantation and was a tradition of the few neighbors we had for everyone to sit outside and listen to the sounds of an invisible horse and wagon pass. We could all hear clear as day the sounds of hooves on the gravel road, the clatter of the draw chains and the creak of the wood. It was never scary and now I know it was just a residual haunting. But the worst came at night.

I very vividly remember that trailer on that huge plot of land. Every night as a child I and my middle sister who shared a room with me would wake up exactly at the same time, as would my oldest sister who had her own room and my Mother. My step-father always slept through it all. We would hear the front door open and foot steps walking through to the kitchen then followed by the creaking sound of the cabinets and the scratch of the drawers drawing open. The trailer would plunge so cold you could see your breath no matter how hot it was. In the mornings we would get up to find every door in the house open, every cabinet open, every drawer pulled out. It used to infuriate my step-father since he thought it was a joke us kids were playing on him.

My mother and just about everyone in my family has the gift of one kind or another. So, tired of it my entire mother called it out. We all saw the form of a man appear in a misty darkness. It swelled from the floor and just glared at us like we were disturbing HIM! My mother told Him he was scaring us children and to leave. He just laughed and sank back through the floor. Things got worse after. In the dark I would waken to my bed shaking hard, the whole frame and mattress like someone was jerking hard on it.

Then from the side something would drag me to the floor. An evil looking thing, it kind of looked like those gremlins from the movie. But at that time I had never seen it so had no idea about it so was not a dream from watching it. Its skin would glisten slimy and its fingers were so cold they burned. To this day I remember the wicked grin on its face, devious and malicious like it wanted to eat me. I would scream and scream and my sister would start screaming because she would see it too. Finally my Mother started having us sleep with her. I never did find out what it was but I think was some earth bound spirit who was out to destroy the family.

Okay, that is all for now. I will be posting more of my story here later as it spans the length of my life and continues even now. If you have any comments or what no please feel free to offer any up. I ask though please to not be leaving negative like "oh you are dumb" or anything of the type. Thanks.

Ghostly Whisp Of A Tail

This is my first of many stories I will write about. It kind of freaks me out and I wonder whether you could help me.

My first experience was when I was eight years old a month after we just moved into our house. I scurried to the bathroom to go "potty" as I was washing my hands I turned and nearly screamed. I saw a Ghostly whisp of a tail and the upper half of a body passing through my bedroom door which was closed. I high tailed it down stairs and told my parents. My parents said I was seeing things.

My second experience was when I was in the 4th grade. I got off my school bus, and walked towards my house. I turned the knob of the door. It was locked. I got very scared and kept pushing on the door until finally I gave it a little push and it popped open. I remember by the door it was oddly cold. I heard someone upstairs and called out thinking it was my mother or one of my three sisters. No one reply.

About 3 months ago I saw a glowing blue ball of light and later an image of a girl with blond, hair blue eyes maybe 13 the same age as me.

I remember brushing my teeth in the bathroom when I heard someone walking in the hallway. When I looked over there was nobody in the hallway. This has occurred many times.

I was at school in science class doing my work when my friend Hailey went to the bathroom. I heard someone come into the room about 5 minute's later, walk behind me and sit in the chair next to me. Thinking it was Hailey I looked over but there was no one there. About 1 minute later Hailey came in. She is also haunted by a ghost.

I got out of the shower and my mirror fogged up like always. I always lock my bathroom door too. When I looked at the mirror, there was a broken heart drawn into the steam on the mirror.

Can anyone explain or tell me how to communicate with my ghost a bit more? She also likes to walk around at night between 2-4 in the morning or tap on my door making it creak.

Thanks everyone!

Family Of Sensitives Or Are We All Haunted?

I wanted to share with you some experiences we are having at our home and actually have had for a number of years. I have to say I am a little hesitant to talk about this for many reasons but lately we have seen an increase in activity and I am not sure why.

We live in a normal suburban home built in the early 80s (I think). I do know the previous owner of the house met an untimely end in a car accident with a drunk driver a few miles from the house. I also know the following occupant lived there many years but is also now deceased (not related to the house as far as I can tell).

I moved into the house in May of 2007 and almost immediately began to experience a few small unexplainable things. My son is very sensitive and he saw someone several times in the kitchen area, I personally heard someone talking (unintelligible) when I was in the kitchen and he was in the living room but it sounded like a female voice. This was two years ago. Since then the activity has been fairly sporadic... Increasing from time to time - subsiding in others. Mostly we have experienced odd noises - voices, a repentant "swooshing" sound like material being moved about, both my son and I have seen a woman in the kitchen/laundry area, the sound of the front door opening and closing at all hours of the day and night (but the door does NOT actually open, it just sounds like it does) . My dogs also hear these things and look toward the apparent source of the noise.

Lately in the last six months the activity has increased. It seems primarily centered around my 21 year old son and 15 year old daughter. Items disappearing and reappearing, the swooshing noise, the sound of a car driving through the rain - except it is INSIDE THE HOUSE - and we haven't had any rain in over a year. Now not only do we get the door opening sound, but also the phone is ringing - ok actually the phone doesn't register a missed call, but the three of us have HEARD the phone ring - it stops before you get there. My son has had his hair pulled so hard it bruised his scalp. My youngest daughter (12) has been awakened by someone tugging on her foot. My dogs have days where they go nuts... Very nervous barking at nothing all day and night.

Last night around 4am my dog started barking, a very agitated and angry bark. This went on for about 2 minutes. As I got up to see what was going on I was putting on a robe and I heard the front door slam shut. I went to the door and as I walked toward it - I heard the sound of someone vigorously sweeping. I couldn't tell if it was inside or just outside the door. The door was locked as it should have been. I opened it - still heard the sweeping noise but - there was no explanation of where it came from. I went outside onto the front step (the sweeping was either just inside or just outside the door but in that area) - and the door slammed shut on me. It wasn't locked and I was able to go back inside but as soon as the door shut - the sweeping noise stopped. I never made it back to sleep.

Okay believe it or not with the exception of the hair pulling and foot tugging I could probably actually live with all of this - except, well here is where the story gets complicated.

This is not the first house where we have had issues. When my son was 6 and my daughter was an infant we lived in Germany. At that time I was fairly agnostic toward the paranormal... I wasn't sure if I believed or not. After living there I was convinced. I have never felt or seen or heard anything that strong in my life. There was a female and male entity in that house that not only we saw /experienced...people from outside of our family saw and heard the same things. We actually had some negative altercations with those entities and we ended up moving out of the house because of it. Both of my older children experienced phenomenon in that house.

Now this is what has provoked me to write to you. My kids have not spoken with each other about their experiences. But the older two have both come to me within the last month and told me that they believe the ghost is not attached to the house but attached to them personally because they have experienced these issues at different houses. Also they have both mentioned they felt it was both a male and female entity. I was talking about this to my mother and she brought up some things I didn't remember - when I was a child and a young adult I experienced similar things. Items moving, lost and found items, an entity touching my mother, inanimate objects moving (yes we could visually see them) and I was able as a child to look at it and say "stop that" and it stopped. I also know my father was able to see spirits and that he and I were oddly linked by - dreams and emotions but then that is another story.

Now - I don't want the world to know these things; I know people will say/think we are a family of freaks. I am pretty comfortable with "other than worldly" influences in my life so I am not asking for an exorcism and anything like that. I think I really would just like to understand better. Actually I just want to know if there is something that follows us around, or if we are just collectively sensitive to the things that are around everywhere in the world. I am curious about similarities in experiences between myself and my children and between different locations. (missing/reappearing items, sound of water, female voice) etc. And why sometimes the experiences are strong and frequent and other times are not so much.

Collection Of Events

Many of you probably know that I have had some pretty odd things happen to me. From Ouija boards gone wrong to being woken up at 3 am night every night I've had a lot of occurrences with the paranormal. Now I'm about to share some smaller experiences with you. I seem to attract various kinds of things and it seems I never experience the same thing twice. Everything listed it true and happened within the course of a year, here we go.

The Doors - Last summer I was constantly home alone while my sister was at day care and my other sister was at work, my parents of course were at work as well. I would be listening to my iPod on the couch (I enjoy music to the extent where I must listen to it each and every day) when over the music I could hear doors closing. I would take out an ear bud and sure enough I would hear a door slam. The upstairs hallway has specific pops it makes when you step on it, not even I have found a way to get around them whenever I go through the hall. After the door slammed I would hear a pop from the hallway or possibly a bang from inside one of the upstairs rooms. At the time it was just me, my parents, and my younger sister sleeping up there, my eldest sister slept downstairs. The part I want to really focus on is the fact that it was only the upstairs doors closing, my bedroom is upstairs. I couldn't pinpoint which doors were slamming shut, since all were closed when I got upstairs. I even checked the windows to make sure none were open.

The Light - Now this event has only happened once. While playing with my current dog I was throwing around one of her chew toys in the living room when my older sister got a hold of it. She threw it back to me as a sort of pickle-in-the-middle with the dog. While my attention was on the chew toy and catching it, the light flicked on in the living room. One switch was in clear view as I watched the chew toy; the other was to my left. I knew for a fact that no one had turned the lights on as my sister had her back turned the moment the lights went on. No one else was in the house at the time, and I even asked her if she turned them on. Of course her answer was no.

Different Dimensions? - I had a friend over for the night and while she was trying to sleep I was sneaking in some TV before midnight. I knew she wanted to get to sleep, and even though I was wide-awake I turned off the TV and snuggled down into bed. The clock on my bedside table clicked to 12:00 and I turned over to lie on my side. Before I closed my eyes I saw bright orange. It was like those shirts people wore sometimes, the ones made to look like claws or something else was coming out at you. The rips formed by the claws was exactly was I saw. It was as if someone had ripped through this dimension and I saw into the next. Though I'm still not sure on the dimensions part. All I'm sure of is the fact that I saw it--I was wide-awake and I don't hallucinate--and that whatever it was seemed to give off orange light. As soon as I closed my eyes I could see the image burned into my mind the light was so bright. My friend at the time was trying to get to sleep and admitted she hadn't seen a thing.

Your thoughts?

That's it for now, possibly more later, but I just need some opinions. I swear they're all true, and I just want to know what's going on. With the stories I've read on here, there hasn't really been anyone with the same experiences I've had. With the last story, I've never heard anything like it before, and repeat once again that I was fully-awake (it was during the summer, when school was out, and when I would stay up until 2 most nights). Please comment if you can.

Another Story Of Unexplained Hauntings

Previously,I explained some unusual happenings that occurred in our home, and out of it. Some of the other things that took place, which, if you remember, occurred more frequently a month after my brother passed on. It happened almost all the time for approximately three to four months after his passing.

My oldest daughter worked night shift, and she usually got home between 12:30 and 1 a.m. It normally took her awhile to unwind once she was home. Most of the time she would take a shower and then watch TV in the living room until she got sleepy. She told me one day that while she was up, our pictures on our mantel started moving. She was kind of in shock and she said she got upset and shouted "Uncle, stop it now!" She said that it did stop and she was glad. She said a lot of times she would hear steps in our hallway, and she would try to ignore it, and at times she would wake me up. On one occasion when she woke me up, I went into the living room with her and she said "Mom tell Uncle that we love him, but he needs to stop scaring us." I did say out loud that we love him and to let me know if he needs help with anything. That one night it sounded like someone banged real hard on the back of the TV. I asked my daughter if she heard it. She did.

For several months our door-bell would ring, and when we would check, no one was there. I told my husband that maybe it was kids playing tricks on us, but he said they can't run that fast. My granddaughter, who was 20 months old when my brother passed, ran to our front door one day and was trying to open the door. We asked her what she was doing. She said Uncle wants to come in. She was so determined to open the door, that we finally did for her. My daughter said that sometimes when she would be driving, my granddaughter would be playing in the back seat. A few times she would talk out loud. This one time, my daughter and the babies dad heard her say "No Uncle, I don't want to play any more."

I had finally decided to go back to work after a few months. I think it was September. I work in the health field, so I have to wear uniforms. I change my uniform everyday, and on my days off, I wash all my work clothes. The day I did laundry I was putting all my uniforms in the wash, and on one of my shirts, a hospital name tag was on it with my brother's old room number. There was no way that could of been on. I wore that shirt to work, and I would of noticed, or someone would of, because I have to wear a badge at work. I was so shocked. All my uniforms always are cleaned before going to work. I showed my family and they were just as much shocked as me.

Things have slowed down a bit, though, on occasion something happens. I want to share with you now some things that have occurred recently. A few weeks ago, I was leaving my home, when I went to open my front door. It felt like someone was pulling the door knob back, and it happened twice. It really felt like when I was opening the door someone was closing it. I have a picture of my brother in my dining room. It was him receiving his first communion. He was twelve at the time. Well, one day my grandson got a hold of it and broke the frame. I took if away from him. I then had set it aside. About after a week I was looking at the picture, thinking that soon I have to buy another frame, when I heard a very soft womans voice say "I'm sorry." I was very stunned.

My mother passed away on March 2, 2008. If you note, my brother was July 2nd. When she passed, I told my family let's see if strange things happen a lot again. They didn't like in the past. The woman's voice I heard recently was not my moms voice.

Another incident that occurred was, I was standing in my kitchen one morning drinking coffee. You can see my front door right out the window. I saw a woman, and it looked like she walked out my front door, but the door was shut. I rubbed my eyes, and I even ran out the door, but she was gone. Two days later same thing happened. This time she was walking into my home. The door never opened. I saw her reach for the door knob. I remember she was wearing a sweater and she was dressed very nice, but casual, and she had a purse with a strap over her shoulders. She had light brown hair that was curled all the way around, her hair was a little above her shoulders. I didn't see her face very well, only the side of her each time. I told my daughter about it and she thought it may have been my mom. I don't know, because my mom was 67 years Old when she passed, and this lady looked young. I don't remember my mom having that kind of hair style.

I had a good friend that passed away in October. We hadn't seen or talked to each other for a long time. One day her daughter finally some how got our number, and called us. She told us what happened. The service had been two days prior to her reaching us, so I didn't get to attend, and I was hurt. She was sixty years old. She always had such a sweet voice. I wonder if maybe the woman I saw was her, and the voice I heard.

I do believe that when a loved ones spirit does stick around, that it does open the door for other spirits. Every once in a while, when I sleep, I can feel someone pushing up on my mattress. My husband feels it to, at times. Now this other thing is going to be kind of hard to write about. One morning I got up and I went straight into the hallway bathroom to take a bath. I didn't notice anything on me at the time. After my bath I was drying off and getting ready to put my robe on, when I noticed scratches all over my stomach. It looked like someone took a razor blade and just scratched in all kinds of directions on my stomach. I got dressed and I was very upset about what I saw. I showed my husband, and he said "My gosh, it looks like someone cut you all up." and I even showed the rest of my family. I asked him if he thought something got into our bed. He said he would of been cut up to. I do know that I had a dream that someone was scratching my granddaughter on her stomach, and I was screaming in my dream, though that was two nights prior to me having those scratches. I don't have long nails. In fact, they are very short.

I had another dream the night before Halloween. In my dream, I saw my mom and brother and they looked the same. I was sitting on a couch and there was a man next to me. The house had walls that was a very bright white, and my mom was trying to tell me something. I couldn't understand her. Then she screamed out my full name, to pay attention, then she said where they were, everyone stays young. Then she handed me a phone, and the number three kept on popping up. Then she grabbed it, and gave it back. Then it was the number four. I'm not sure what she was trying to tell me, though my birthday starts with 3-4. It's March 4. Also my son's cell phone starts with those numbers. I also remember, in the dream, my mom and brother both laying down on their stomachs with their heads turned side ways. I thought how unusual for them to lay down like that. Then I remember hearing my mom crying, saying she missed me, then I grabbed my brother's hand and I kissed it. Then I told him how much I loved and missed him and mom. Then I woke up.

Well, that following Wednesday my youngest son had a wrestling match at his school. My other kids and I went. At first the kids wrestle, then the coach blows a whistle, then they have to stop. Then one of them has to get on the floor, on his stomach, with his head side ways. And they wrestle again for a while. Did you get it? Same way my mom and brother did in my dream. I think my mom was really trying to tell me something.

Shortly after my brother's passing, I had a dream that we were both standing outside near my front door. It was very foggy and he looked very healthy. I asked him if he was OK and he said yes. I then asked him if he saw GOD yet. He said "No, not yet, but I will" then I said "Where are you then?" he said "I'm in a waiting place. We all go there." and that was it my dream ended. It seemed so real.

I need to stop here. There's so much more I would like to share. It's just very hard to continue at times. Will write again soon.

A Collection Of Stories

I have a few encounters and pictures, but I do not know if they are real or not. My first story takes place in the sleepy town of Medford, Oregon. This one took place when I was 7 years old. My grampa had just refurbished the kitchen floor. He was so proud he took a picture of it. In this picture, there is what appears to be the ghostly image of a cat. Our neighbors at the time were elderly people who owned many cats. It could of been one of their deceased cats. I cannot post the picture because I lost it many years ago.

My next story takes place in Chicago's Bachelor's Grove, which is a very old cemetery. This happened when I was 10 years old. My dad and I where scouting out the old cemetery. It was the middle of summer, but it was freezing in the cemetery. We kept hearing unexplainable sounds that sounded like wood banging against wood. This sound did not match that of a woodpecker. I also heard what seemed to be footsteps and sighing.

My next and last story takes place where I live now, Hobart, Indiana. This started when I was 25 years old and still continues today.

Sometimes, I see dark figures in my window. I do not know what they are, but there is the possibility they are ghosts. Also, I hear unexplainable footsteps on my very creaky stairs. Sometimes I also suddenly feel very cold. My cat freaks out mostly in the kitchen. He stares at the doorway, sometimes for hours on end and refuses to leave the spot. By the way, my current house was built in 1890. Excuse my misspelling and improper English, for I am French and I am still learning English.
